Well summer is here and everyone is off enjoying vacations, camps and family time.   While our school community is enjoying time of the foundation will be hard at work preparing for our two upcoming events in the Fall of the 2011/2012 school year. The first is our annual golf tournament in September and in October the “Taste of Education” read more about both the information below.  We will also be refocusing our efforts on corporate sponsorships and integrating our efforts to more effectively partner with our individual foundation counter parts.  We have a number of new and very energetic board members so please take a look at our website and get to know therm.  If you are looking for a way to get involved we are always looking for event volunteers so give us a call.

Save The Date: The CARE Foundation's 18th Annual Golf Classic

The CARE Foundation's 18th Annual Golf Classic is

scheduled for Monday September 12th, 2011 at El Niguel Country Club in Laguna Niguel. Guests enjoy various contests and raffle prizes. Silent and live auctions follow in the clubhouse during a buffet dinner.

Board member Updates

The CARE Foundation's is please to announce the addition of Andrea Ortega and as new Board Member.

 Andrea is the VP of Marketing and Business Development at Patriots Federal Credit Union located in Aliso Viejo. What draws Andrea to the credit union world is the essence of the culture and philosophy which is one of “people helping people” and “serving the underserved”.

Besides working in the financial field she also donates her time to the Big Brother/ Big Sister program by mentoring her “little sister”, Kimberly.

Other hobbies and interests include:  her golden doodle, Francesca, dancing, Pilates, music, theatre, concerts, reading but most of all traveling!

We like to extend a warm welcome to Andrea!

 

2011 Senior Scholarships Awarded

Rosaline Chen, a graduating senior at Capistrano Valley High School, has been awarded a Rancho Mission Viejo Scholarship through The CARE Foundation. Heather Bastio and David Song both received Aliso Viejo Community Foundation Scholarship through The CARE Foundation. Rosaline, Heather and David all have been very active in community service.

Congradulations and best wishes to all three of them.

      

 Grant Donor Spotlight: Southern Claifornia Edison

 CARE Foundation applied for a grant from Southern California Edison to fund additional "Fraction Nation" site licenses for middle schools that do not own any Fraction Nation student licenses. The foundation was awarded $7,000 for this project. Based on recommendation from the CUSD Math Resource Department, the funds will go toward purchasing of 50 licenses for Arroyo Vista, Don Juan Avila, Las Flores and Vista Del Mar Middle Schools.

Fraction Nation targets fractions and decimals — two of the most difficult concepts to teach and learn. Designed to develop the critical foundations of fraction fluency — conceptual understanding and procedural knowledge  — Fraction Nation delivers fraction fluency through explicit instruction, extensive practice, and ongoing assessments. Fraction Nation guides students on a journey through 64 carefully crafted lessons to build a strong foundation in fractions and decimals — all in 15-minute lessons.

Save The Date: 7th Annual "Taste For Education"

The CARE Foundationn is excited to announce thier much-anticipated 7th annual "Taste For Education" event coming this   fall!

Join the Foundation, education, business leaders and friends for a special event on Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Capistrano Toyota, located at 33395 Camino Capistrano in San Juan Capistrano.
The grand prize of a brand new Toyota Prius, which has been generously donated by Capistrano Toyota, and will be awarded to one lucky winner!
The evening will also feature delicious menu items from local favorites. Guests will also enjoy a variety of signature wines to complete the meal. Other fun prizes will also be awarded in addition to the grand prize!
Tickets are $50.00 each or 3 for $125.00 and may be purchased here.
